Pre-Order for the Future (Update: Free Episode!) 25 Oct, 2010 / 8 comments

Telltale Games has updated their Back to the Future minisite, and put the game up for pre-order (PC/Mac) for $24.95. This gets you all 5 episodes, a free copy of Puzzle Agent and Telltale will donate $1 of it to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, plus you get access to the 'BTTF Insider' forum. No word yet if And there will be the usual free DVD that Telltale put out once their series' wrap up.

The initial platforms are PC/Mac, iPad and PS3 (release dates & prices for the iPad & PS3 will be revealed at a later time).

Watch out for the game trailer on December 2. Someone who pays more attention than me claims on the Telltale Forums that their games tend to launch the Tuesday following the trailer release. Make of that what you will.

UPDATE BY TINGLER: If you're still on the fence about pre-ordering, go here to get a free copy of Episode 1 when it becomes available. You'll lose out on the pre-order bonuses, but it might give you the incentive to order the rest.

Pity it's on PS3. I fear a repeat of the Nutrition Specs debacle.

And of course, I don't mean that in the sense of "I don't want PS3 users to play this game" so much as "if Telltale develops this with PS3 as the primary platform in mind, it might cause cool features to be left of the PC port again."

The problem with the 360 is that you really have to work to Microsoft's schedule for releases. Chances are this'll get a 360 release down the line but probably just whenever MS can slot it in.

    Ipad?
I hope it doesn't put down the overall detail to have the game for it.
The Wii limits on Tales still frighten me.

Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse and Wallace & Gromit are both on iPad, and they're two of Telltale's best looking games. Don't worry about it - if it's on PS3, it'll look great on PC.

Yeah, I said that, I think.

Excellent news, but what surprises me most is the lack of a 360 announcement. That'll really annoy Ryan McCaffrey at Official Xbox Magazine US, he's been getting really excited about the game since it was announced - he's even got his own DeLorean!

Has the clarification on the DVD availability at the end of the 5 episodes.

Also of note it doesn't show up on the game purchase log on the account screen. Hmmm...
