New versions of all Telltale games on the way 24 Oct, 2006 / Comments: 9

So Emily tells us in this forum thread:
We will be releasing a new version of Out from Boneville in a week or so, that includes all the improvements made to the engine in the past year.

Watch for a big redesign on our website - once that is up, new versions of our Bone games and Texas Hold'em will be available for download as well.
This presumably means that we'll get resolution options and shadows, and probably lots of more subtle improvements. The question is, are these updated versions of Bone related to It?

    They probably plan to re-record the voices with the same talentless hacks they used for 'The Great Cow Race'. I can't even play that game because of Thorn's TERRIBLE new voice!

    The "new versions" in question are more or less versions of the original games which have been bumped up to the version of the Telltale Tool that powers Sam & Max. The biggest thing people will notice is that the Bone games now support multiple resolution, and allow you to turn the hint system off and on. A few other details are there like the fonts now look less hideous and crusty. There's no extra content or gameplay changes in these versions though - they're just done to get everything up to date.



    Also as a nitpicky detail, these versions of Bone still don't have character shadows - it would have taken a ton of work to prevent the shadows from clipping into the ground all over the place... It's a fix that should eventually be going into the series though. These forthcoming updates were quick revisions to get all of Telltale's old games up to date with the latest version of the tool more than they were cosmetic or feature fixes.
