We're just a little late in reporting them. But they exist, nonetheless.

Damn, I hoped they had payed attention to what their forum members said about re-using models.
That's the only trouble I have with TMI, especially since the other games had so many well designed characters.

I think it's more an issue of the developers being backed into WiiWare limits rather than them not paying attention to criticisms. I think it's a shame, but I definitely don't think TMI is any worse than EMI when it comes to the blandness of character designs.

Creating new models takes time and resources. I prefer having new characters with re-used models than having to deal with Soda Poppers in each episode.

I just think it's a pity since the characters in the previous games were very well thought out and designed. In this one they use 2(!) character models.

There is a much greater amount different characters in Tales than in previous games. cRPGs have patented reusing character graphics years ago and managed to have whole cities of people as a result, usually each with a distinct personality and story.

Yes, that might be. Monkey Island is not a series of cRPG's. It's a series of point click adventure games, in which they use a limited amount of characters, al of whom are (at least in some way) human. You'd think they could use more than 2 character models for a limited number of characters. Especially in a series in which they where always very uniquely designed.

If only you'd know what further surprises the coming episode will bring :)

Does this mean that you do?
Don't get me wrong, the character models are just a small setback in part 1, I really loved LotSN, and I'm really looking forward t0 episode 2.

Yes, I know a thing or two about ep2. And I'd recommend to not be adamant about Tales needing to follow the patterns of previous MI games very closely.

Anyway, I too would prefer unique models for each character. It's just that I understand very well the reasons behind this not being the case here. And as I said before, I prefer this approach to the one in previous Telltale games where you constantly met the very same characters.

To be fair, ep 2 was probably too far along in production when ep1 was released to have too much of the feedback implemented.

The short guy doesn't really look too much like the other shorties they used...but I hope they stop using the tall, skinny guy so much, cause he just looks like there's a bunch of clones of him running around the Caribbean. Small pet peeve though, that. Overall, I'm really digging TMI so far.

I find your re-use of character models disturbing. :p
  • Capn_Nacho on 17 Aug, 2009, 04:53…
    I'm over it.
  • jp-30 on 17 Aug, 2009, 09:09…
Over the game, or over the complaining about reusing models?
  • Capn_Nacho on 18 Aug, 2009, 00:49…
I am most definitely over complaining about reusing models. TTG's gonna do what they have to do to get the game done, and the writing, animation, and puzzle design are all stellar.

    BOTH.
  • jp-30 on 17 Aug, 2009, 19:24…
But you're not too over it, as you continue to read ToMI news posts and comment on them.
  • Icebox on 17 Aug, 2009, 22:04…
    Well, yeah...
  • hierohero on 17 Aug, 2009, 09:44…

That is pretty sad, but the environment art looks great.
