New Game: Full Throttle II 21 May, 2002 / Comments: 30

LucasArts has published the official press release for Full Throttle II.
A CLASSIC RETURNS - LUCASARTS REVS UP FULL THROTTLE FOR LONG AWAITED SEQUEL

Acclaimed Classic Adventure Roars Back to Action on Next Generation Consoles and PC in 2003

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- May 21, 2002 -- Full Throttle, one of the most loved classic adventures from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC, returns in a long awaited action packed sequel for next generation consoles and PC in 2003. The follow up to the award winning game from 1995 will once again feature one of LucasArts' most popular and enduring characters, the swaggering outlaw biker Ben, leader of a renegade motorcycle gang called the Polecats. The free wheeling action-adventure will offer a humorous original story, furious bare knuckle fighting, and the thrill of high speed biking.

"Full Throttle is one of LucasArts' greatest and most beloved original games," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "We can't think of a better brand or character to lead LucasArts' charge into a new era of original game development. Ben so perfectly symbolizes our legacy and yet has just the right mix of attitude and edge to appeal to a new generation of game players."
Looks like Simon Jeffrey stayed true to his 50/50 policy after all!

I've never played FT but now I'm gonna get it as soon as possible. ^_^ I have now been inspired to buy it. Woohoo!

As for the people who are ALREADY whining about how horrible the game is going to be, please, for the sake of all that is holy and sane, be quiet. It's a PRESS RELEASE. We don't KNOW anything else. So, until there's further info, don't count your chickens before they hatch.

  • netmonkey on 21 May, 2002, 18:29…
FT was the first LEC adventure I've ever owned... I remember I had a birthday party, and me and my friends sat down to play full throttle and we put our minds together just to figure out the puzzles! :P

I hope this one is as good or better than the original.

I personally think that "Best blah blah beloved blah blah blah" Is a load of shit, They've milked the starwars cash cow for all it's worth, and after the disaster of Monkey Island 4, they're scrambling to make some more money... I'm sorry it had to come to the company being out of ideas so that we could finally get FT2, but I'm gladi t's coming. In conclusion, seven

you bad guy. Monkey 4 was a very good game, and Simon Jeffery is a very good boy. you're the kind of person who makes world so unpleasant, always ruining everything with stupid and gratuitous pessimism...

I'd guess Sean Clark is the lead developer if I interpret this correctly:

    http://www.cgonline.com/features/020521-f2-f1.html

"Sean is working on a project that will likely be unveiled at E3 that I think a lot of our old fans will be excited about."
  • LucasTones on 21 May, 2002, 13:07…
Yeah, this will be cool. Ok, so there might be a leetle bit of fighting in it - but, as they say, there was some actiony bits in the originals. I reckon this will be like the original Throttle, but with more action (not a lot more) and hopefully a bit longer. I hope Gamecube is on thier list! My PC can't cope with a brand new PC game, and my dad wouldn't like me to be on his PC 24/7...

". The free wheeling action-adventure will offer a humorous original story, furious bare knuckle fighting, and the thrill of high speed biking."

HELL NO! They did not just do what I think they just did! Made the best Adventure game ever into an acion brawler! SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!!!
  • Metallus on 21 May, 2002, 13:00…
'scuse me, the first one was an action/adventure.
  • Blaze^ on 21 May, 2002, 14:58…
By todays standards action/adventure means a game where you jump-around a lot and push blocks / buttons in a unlogical order until a door opens...
...and I wouldn't call FT that... I would call it a adventure game with a large portion of arcade sequences ;)
