Naboo Battles On 23 Mar, 2001, 14:35 / 4 comments

It's not just Mojo that thinks Battle for Naboo is rubbish. Gameover.net have reviewed the game, heading the review with this:
milk (milk) vt. 1. to drain off or extract money, ideas, strength, etc. from as if by milking; exploit (see: LucasArts)
LEC's Star Wars games have been, of late, pretty unplayable. However, I got a chance to play Jedi Power Battles on my Dreamcast, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd compare it to 3D Golden Axe with Jedi.

an appauling mess, but LucasArts can pull themselves out. I've seen good starwars games in the past, and in recent times with Jedi Power Battles. Episode 1 racer was enjoyable for everyone for atleast 1 lap on the first course !. I'm loking forward to Bombad racing - and i have little doubt that starwars galaxies will be huge. (neither of those 2 games are developed in house by LucasArts) I hope E3 and Episode 2 bring some more creativity to LucasArts SW games. And whoile im at it, Maybe its time to stop using the horribble 3d engine they have used for so long now!

If the character animation in EMI is any indicator of upcoming LEC 3D tech I expect we should be at least satisfied, if not impressed with the 3D quality of upcoming games. And yeah that gameplay video from Super Bombad looked pretty cool. Nothing, of course, could top an E3 announcement of an original title for the PC.

Except maybe an E3 announcement of an original title for Mac? Heh. :)

On a related note, non-Star Wars zealots of the British TV-owning variety (come on, I know you exist!) should look at Digitiser's "Badness 2001" feature today (Friday). It's on page 481 of Channel 4 Teletext.

Edited highlights for those unfortunate enough to be non-British, those too stupid to use a TV remote, or those too slow-witted to go and look in time:

Worst Games Ever: Star Wars Demolition - "Another in the never-ending list of Star Wars gaming badness, Demolition - unlike Force Commander - wasn't even a good idea to start with... Not only were the controls barely functional, not only were the graphics beyond appalling, but the battles seemed to last for ever, with none of the combatents ever dying. VERY bad."

Worst Games Ever: Force Commander - "...Unfortunately, rather than going the traditional route, the game was developed by a team of inanimate, burnt puppets, operated by a drunk convict... Perhaps someone, somewhere, enjoyed Force Commander. But if so, that someone must surely be the biggest idiot that ever there was."

There you go. ESPECIALLY FOR YOU, people who hate Star Wars news! That is all.
