Music to my ears 06 Oct, 2007, 10:52 / 6 comments

To fill the void in your life before the second season of Sam & Max becomes available, how about listening to music from the first series? Or better yet, read The Tingler's review of the Sam & Max Season One Soundtrack instead!

I know what you're thinking. "Since when has Mojo ever done a music review?" Well, if we can do a poetry review I don't see why we can't have CD reviews too!

Update: Like what you read? Good, then help support your local musician by buying the soundtrack here today! Remember, if there isn't a Season Two soundtrack, I'm blaming you guys for not buying the first one!

Great review! I also enjoyed the music a lot. Might buy the soundtrack: it's a good way of showing my delight of Jared I s'ppose.

The reason there are so few (zero?) pieces of cutscene music from Bright Side of the Moon is because unlike the other five episodes, the cutscene stuff in Bright Side of the Moon was almost entirely cribbed from previous pieces of cutscene music or was made from slices of music from BSoTM itself.

In the previous episodes, Jared was writing new themes specifically for cinematic moments, but the combination of it being the last episode (where all the old themes should be coming back anyway) and the pressing fact that time was very slim by the end of a six episode schedule, meant that most of the cutscene stuff was made of edited re-used cues from the last five eps.

That said, great review! Glad you enjoyed the soundtrack so much. Also, you should actually link people to a page where they can buy the soundtrack :)

Do you get a commission or something? ;)

Nope, but 1) Its silly to tell people that something is awesome, then neglect to tell them how to get it, and 2) I spent a lot of time on the packaging and stuff for that soundtrack, and I've been friends with Jared since we were like 13, so I'm going to push the damn CDs until I die. :)

Fair enough! Although the main reason I didn't is the same reason most reviews don't tell people where to buy the item reviewed - I'm worried people might think we ARE getting paid for it and so might not have our objectivity. Does that make sense? I've added it to the news page above though.

    You done good work, boy!

Ssh, Mojo is ENTIRELY objective. We don't take bribes or having quasi-staff members working for Telltale or anything.

    Incidentally, Sam & Max? It's awesome! 8.95!
