More Possible Indy News 25 Sep, 2002, 17:13 / 7 comments

Even though voice actor Doug Lee has portrayed Indy in Fate of Atlantis and Infernal Machine, it was not publically known if he would return to play the same character in The Emperor's Tomb. We even asked several LucasArts employees about this at the summer press event, and none of them were able to provide an answer. However, Lee's credit page on The Internet Movie Database indicates that Lee will return to voice Dr. Jones in the new game. Of course, who knows just how reliable IMDb actually is, since it also claims that Hal Barwood is directing the title.

I'm kind of torn on the subject, as my opinion on the work of Doug Lee is a little mixed. When he's delivering a dry, witty, and sarcastic line, he comes off very well. But I think often lacks any kind of emotion or enthusiasm.

Indy would often change his tone in the movies. For example, the enthusiasm in his voice when discussing the history of the ark in Raiders. Or when he would get into a frustrated screaming match with his dad in Last Crusade. I haven't heard Doug Lee do anything like this in the games, which could possibly just be a character choice... but I miss that aspect in games.

I wouldn't put too much stock in it. IMDB is based on user input, and has quite a few factual errors when it comes to games. (check Silent Hill 2 for some great examples)

Yeah, for a while it said that Microsoft's Steve Balmer was playing Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
