Reacting to the imminent end of Nintendo Power magazine's twenty-four year run (Lord, the memories), Christina Warren of Mashable tearfully selected her favorite ten covers. Making her cut is issue #16, which had a Maniac Mansion cover story teased by a bodacious clay art take on the mansion and the cast.
We've scans of all the pertinent content from that issue in our galleries, by the by. Check them out:

TMNT: The Arcade Game gets a mention on that cover too. Man I played the hell out of that on my NES.
....Yeah that was off topic. I played MM on someones C64 first I think...
No I was wrong. MM first was NES for me, C64 was LCP.

Melancholick
... unless my brain's even further gone than usual, I recall that being the first exposure I ever had to an LF/LA title.
Maniac Mansion NES was also my gateway.
And man, those old covers were off the chain... nice to see two of my all-time favorites (Simon's Quest and Mega Man 2) make the cut. Time hasn't washed the awesomeness out of my mom's reaction to seeing her kid receive a Nintendo magazine with a DECAPITATED VAMPIRE HEAD FEATURED COLORFULLY ON IT in the least.
