LucasArts' Secret History VI 04 Aug, 2008 / Comments: 13

Holy crap, is it time for another secret history article? Yes, yes it is, and this time we dig through LeChuck's Revenge, the perennial Mojo favorite.

Run over and read like crazy! Oh, and that wonderful piece of art is totally another Dan Lee original.

The boot parameter link is a bit outdated. There's a more up to date one here:

And, for the debug codes too:

"Ron Gilbert might resemble Orson Welles in more ways than one."

    I love that part^^

I shall come out of my current lurker state to compliment Captain Mystery for the wonderfully written bit "Ron Gilbert, a liar?"

Since I also post under this very username on Grumpy Gamer every once in a blue moon, I'm sure Gilbert's hatred for me will soon reach the levels of his hatred for THE DARK KNIGHT, but the morality of a decade-and-a-half long cliffhanger (and I'm being nice here, numbernazis) must be questioned at some point. It doesn't matter if we -know- the answer, but the consistent "reboot" of the mystery annoys. The legacy is preserved, certainly, at the cost of "mild" frustration from a devoted, if not obsessive-compulsive crowd.

Having said that, we're all douchebags for loving old games that nobody else cares about, and Ron Gilbert rightfully poops on us all for not being able to come into terms with reality. Think about it - he's the creator, we're the fans. He owes us nothing - what, we only bought the games, created the websites, gave him attention, love, respect, and superfluous fanboyism.

The Secret, is that Ron Gilbert hates you. ...Until DeathSpank comes out.

Utterly, utterly gorgeous artwork there. I've never seen Elaine look so sexy. Or Guybrush. Or LeChuck.

You obviously haven't seen that fan art with the banana.

    I'm NOT joking.

I actually know the girl who drew that. And yes, I said 'girl'.

This is a bad, bad world we're part of.

A lot of people love this game!

I like it (a lot), but I had a few issues with the puzzles in the game and had to consult a walkthrough to solve them.

I'm definitely in the minority on this (on Mixnmojo, at least), but I favor the first game in the series over MI2. I don't really have a good answer as to why that's the case, but there it is. Discuss!

Actually I forgot to mention the idiotic puzzles... Hypnotise a piano-playing monkey by placing a banana on a metronome in order to use said hypnotised monkey to turn off a waterfall... yikes!

(PS - My negative review appears to have gone unnoticed :)

I never had a problem with the monkey wrench puzzle. The inventory had him in the shape of the wrench, so it stood out to me. Maybe I'm just weird though.

'Monkey wrench' is just a very, very clever puzzle. Knowing the claim ticket is on the back of the door is just clairvoyance!

To be honest, I prefer the first part too, but I love the second one nevertheless.
