Just in case you missed it 17 May, 2006 / Comments: 9

The Sam & Max homepage was updated on Monday, allowing you to download the trailer in a variety of attractive formats. Now you can watch it again, and again, and again...

And in other news, shocking footage has been uncovered showing Jim Ward hard at work, scanning in textures for the next Indiana Jones game.

I get the idea that ex Star Wars DVD markiting Jim Ward is a "dark suit & white shirt + tie" guy. And that he wears the "hippie clothes" in the G4 interview, just because he would somehow think it groovie to us kids, and want to fit in with the "gamers"? :) lol

Anyone else get that idea about him? No? ok, just me then :)

    Haha, what a great video.

    2015...

I still can't get over that (Yes, I know it's really not Jim Ward in that video). Good to see that Jim's in touch with his potential consumer base, and knows where LucasArts' truly loyal fans lie.

Because people who buy Star Wars games obviously buy them because they're published by LucasArts.

It's funny how people like to shift blame for their failures.
"Oh noes! The Dukes of Hazard movie flopped. It's obviously because people don't like revived IP and *obviously* not because we made a crappy product."

Having downloaded and watched the Sam & Max trailer, I think the voices used aren't too bad seeing as Bill Farmer and Nick Jameson weren't available (and neither were the guys who did the TV series).

I think once they've had a chance to settle into character, they could be pretty good.

I was amused that Jim Ward said that the revivals of Dukes of Hazzard etc - revivals done 10-15 years after the shows aired - were flops, and therefore to avoid that situation LucasArts would wait 10-15 years to revive their games.

Bewitched ran from 1964-72 and Dukes was 1979-85.

So maybe 10-15 years should be 20-35 years, meaning we can look forward to Monkey Island 5 sometime between 2026 and 2051.

Maybe I'll get it for my 70th birthday... :)

Wouldn't it be just awful though if one day you're hovering down the high street with your kids on cyberskates and you see some virtual reality Monkey Island game in the window of Time Warner AOL Sony HMV? I think, now, I just want my childhood memories to stay in my childhood.

I agree with you on the absurdity of what he's saying though. Perhaps he thinks if he says that all the fanboys will be sated - you know, "it's okay boys - this time in 2020!"

I think and hope it's a misperception or misunderstanding of where LucasArts came from rather than some conscious effort to abandon loyal fans.

Or perhaps Jim Ward just wants more hatemail.

Yeah, I'm fine with Max's voice, but Sam's sounds too flat IMO.

I think that's just down to the delivery, and I reckon some time (ie: more than 1 1/2 minutes) in character would smooth that out.
