It was as if an undisclosed number of developers cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced 09 Apr, 2010 / 9 comments

Alternate news title: Star Wars Battlefront 3 cancelled AGAIN. This time in development at Slant Six, developers of SOCOM Confrontation, this announcement was accompanied by a round of "temporary" layoffs.

In a clear case of déjà vu, LucasArts have put the Star Wars project "on ice". Although that has indeed happened to every version of Battlefront 3 so far, that's not even the hang-on-hasn't-this-happened-before part. As the reason behind this is that they wanted the game out this year and the team couldn't deliver. Now where have we heard that before?

Interestingly though, the reason LucasArts couldn't release it in 2011 is that their Star Wars schedule is "stacked" that year. Methinks there's more than just Lego Star Wars III and TFU2 incoming from the House of George.

Maybe it's just my latent, nostalgic fanboy mentality speaking, but ever since Free Radical was scourged, I've more or less been hoping that this game would wind up in the sh*tcan.

It's like being promised a full-out barbecue spread when there's a good chance that you'll wind up with a can of fluffernutter and some Wonderbread. NO THANK YOU.

Bah, no mention that this would be Battlefront Online as it says it the Kotaku article?

Personally, I like this comment from the article:

    Star Wars: Battlefront Forever

I'd go with the Star Wars. Leave the adventure game franchises to the original designers.

I doubt that's the *real* reason, but if it is: don't be Glottis Kart...don't be Glottis Kart...please don't be Glottis Kart...

what if we were to choose between Glottis Kart and Super Star Wars Bombad Racing 2? :p

I mean, it DOES suck for Slant Six, but I'm not too bothered by the *game* being canceled. I accidentally sounded like a sarcastic dick in the lat post.

Sucks for Slant Six, by the way. I'm indifferent to Battlefront, so.

Please don't be Glottis Kart...please oh please...
