Indy 2008 coming out 2008? Yer 'avin a laff! 28 Apr, 2008 / Comments: 13

Now this is total Surfer Girl rumour, but a hopeful one. This was on her latest rumour list:
The release for A2M's Indy game is currently scheduled to coincide with the Crystal Skull home video release.
A2M's Indy game, which has not been officially announced and has only ever been mentioned from Surfer Girl's blog, is the supposed Indy equivalent of Krome Studios' version of The Force Unleashed. In other words, the Wii/PS2 non-LucasArts developed version.

She has been wrong before about the new Indy game's release date (for example saying that it definitely will be out before Lego Indiana Jones), but where there's hope for a 2008 release I'll back it all the way! Even on the Wii (which looks like the best version of The Force Unleashed at the moment. Imagine using the Wii Remote to flick the whip! Or fight like in Wii Sports Boxing!)!

Actually, I wanted to point out that she (I dont even know this person, its probably a 900 pound man) says that the new Indy game will "coincide with the Crystal Skull home video release."

HOME video release. IE, a year or so if were lucky. Not '08.

    My take on it.

Any Indy game released after the SCUMM engine ones, I have to say, are overrated.

Screw you! Infernal Machine rocks! Although jp-30 may disagree with me.

    Heh.

Surfer Girl's claim that next-gen Indy would be released close to LEGO Indy was made before the whole delay thing, which she reported on first, so I don't see why you're using it as an example of why she's not trustworthy. (Not that she always is, it's just a bad example.) It's kind of like saying we were being dishonest for saying that the game was coming out in 2007, nevermind that LucasArts said it would point-blank. Everyone was reporting with the intel they had at the time.

I'm guessing we should assume that the "real" game won't be released with the non-LucasArts ports, given that she's said that these versions haven't had the development problems that the "real" game has. Also, it's probably not a stretch to think that this version of the game is nothing like the LucasArts one. I don't know, I get the impression that these ports (both for Indy and Force Unleashed) are just cheap afterthoughts made just so LucasArts can be on every platform. But maybe that's just me.

I'm not using it as an example that she's untrustworthy, only that her game release predictions don't always pan out correctly.

Yes to the second paragraph. I also suspect that LucasArts will not let the port be released before their own version, they have to all be at once or not at all. Unless they're really desperate to get some of that Indy IV DVD sale money.

Is the assumption that the Crystal Skull DVD will be out for Christmas - say mid to late November?
  • The Tingler on 28 Apr, 2008, 21:03…
    Yeah.

Although she does say 'home video release', so maybe never...

So I guess where you're from DVDs are another kind of medium other than video? ¬¬
  • The Tingler on 28 Apr, 2008, 22:07…
VHS tapes are otherwise known as videos. The term 'home video' hasn't been used in the UK since DVDs were introduced.

    Insane.
