Grim Fandango Deluxe, the fan project to update the graphics of Grim Fandango, has taken a step forward, releasing an early prototype.

For the first time, fans can actually play with a hi-res version of Manny for themselves, although there are still many bugs to be ironed out (Manny's facial animations are missing).

    Every try to revitalize this game must be well accepted. But do you think all those polys in the manuel's head really adds something to the masterpiece?


    It will help alleviate the jaggies that 1990's era 3D games suffered from. I was playing through Grim Fandango recently. Once I got to the scene with the bridge on Rubacava in year two, I was very surprised how the small amount of polygons and the sharp edges on the head of Manny's original model made the scene look almost pixelated.
