GameTrailers say 'STFU', acronym fans continue to love Lucas 12 Apr, 2008 / Comments: 15

The latest episode of GameTrailers TV focuses almost completely on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed with a load of interesting new stuff.

Highlights include being able to actually play Darth Vader and, a personal delight for me, discovering that LucasArts are actually going to be composing a load of new music for the game and not just re-using the films' scores. All Star Wars games with original music have been great (Dark Forces, KOTOR 1 & 2, Republic Commando), so here's hoping!

There's also a nice bit around 12.10 where the presenter embarrasses the LucasArts rep by showing him just how much of the plot is spoiled by the toys already released. They don't mention however that the reason all that stuff is already out waaaay before the game is that TFU was supposed to have been out last year. Oh, and they mention Spaceballs, which is always good. Here you go.

So I'm the only person who will not touch a Star Wars game with a stick? :(

Good Star Wars games can be great fun if you like the movies - the Gamecube space-shooters were superb.

But it is a bit like playing canasta with Satan.

I play Demolition with my brother on the PS2, but that's just because we're mostly ignorant on the Star Wars universe (recently saw the Luke ones), and because we have nothing else to play together cooperatively (against each other usually makes it less fun when someone wins).

Other than that I hate corporations so I tend to avoid their games, with special exceptions.

Aren't all games made by corporations?

Does this mean you haven't played any LucasArts games at all?
  • Kroms on 13 Apr, 2008, 18:40…
Lol hmm. I should probably say that I don't play games by EVIL corporations. Look at their catalogue. Or EA's. Etc etc.

So, still no LucasArts games then? ;)

    Lol nothing pro-2000.

Didn't Force Commander have an original soundtrack? That game was awful.
  • The Tingler on 13 Apr, 2008, 10:39…
Ah, forgot that one. Still, the soundtracks themselves are usually good, whatever the products they are attached to end up like.

    Just like the films!

I thought that game got a bad rap in the press because it had a fairly big learning curve. If you had a decent enough PC, the game was (IMO) excellent.

Floating camera in full 3D was pretty amazing considering the rest of the RTSs at the time all looked like Dune2000 clones. The missions and overll plot was great too.

To be fair my opinion of it is based on the fact that I suck at RTS games. I never got anywhere so I just gave up.
