Force Unleashed, then chases a cat and fouls your neighbour's lawn 25 Jan, 2008, 13:47 / 15 comments

In what seems like a long time (I am not doing that pun), Star Wars: The Force Unleashed seems to have come on in leaps and bounds, as shown in this amazing new video at GameTrailers.

LucasArts can feel proud now, for they have created... another Jedi Knight game. A good-looking one (very much so), but still Jedi Academy with some nice new tech. Still, there hasn't been a bad JK game as this seems to be exactly what Star Wars fans actually want (instead of, say, Super Bombad Racing or Demolition), and it does look extremely fun.

Let's hope the story passes muster, being able to choose Light Side or Dark Side is an option, and that we get some new Indiana Jones info soon.

Biomechanical AI? Digital Molecular Matter? What the hell is this supposed to mean? It's just marketing BS, there is no way in hell they are actually simulating molecules.

I just wish they'd stop talking us like we're idiots who are going to by a game because they thought up a cool name for some simulation software. It makes me want to scream.

Are you suggesting that you're not a systematical retail inclined anthropoid with no binary based entertainment purchasing inclinations concerning LucasArts' biomechanical AI and digital molecular matter cerebral immaterial apparitions projected through the use of digital information reenactment apparatuses and virtually controlled through the use of digitally enhanced remote controllers?

I understood most of that, but what does "Are you suggesting" mean?

It's alright, everyone. I'm alright. I just had a light snack and I'm feeling much better. Thanks.

LA has no idea of the market they are missing with with not releasing this title to the PC. I keep hearing about all this turnaround they are trying to attempt, but they keep tripping every time. All this focus just on consoles is just plain wrong.

Yeah. It's apparently even being released on the f***ing Nokia N-Gage for chrissakes. No excuse for not doing it on PC.

And I've also heard very negative things about the combat... "uninspired, repetitive and dull" is the general consensus. Still a while for them to get it right, however. And to release it on PC.

I agree. From the excellent Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games, the average Battlefronts and the solid Republic Commando, there is certainly a market out there for the FPS style Star Wars combat games.

One of the Rare exception on a SW game. I really liked Republic Commando. I like that kind of system on games.Te one that you can give orders to the troops. Thats why one of my fav games is the saga Brothers in Arms (I?m REALLY anxious to get my hands on the Hells Highway).Though I find Republic Commandos short.I also liked Temuera Morrison voice (aka Boba Fett no SW3).

I did too! The only thing I disliked about it was how short it was, and the lack of environments to explore. Just three battles? For the whole of the Clone Wars?

The Super Battle Droids also had a much cooler voice in Republic Commando than in Revenge of the Sith.

Its length was perfect for me, though I'm no hard-core gamer. Wife, kids, job etc all battle for my time and being able to spare even an hour for videogames every couple of days can be a struggle.

I never finished KOTOR because of that (nor Psychonauts, nor Beyond Good & Evil), and also I abandoned Indy Jones & Emp's Tomb as there was no save feature and I had to redo maybe 10 mins of tedious jumping and grabbing to reach my perpetual death-spot. Gave up altogether in the end.

So, for some of us a tight, linear, short game is quite a relief - I can actually finish one on occasion!

OK! ANOTHER SW game! And this time, the people with PCs gets to experience an amazing deal of...nothing!!!
I´m 32, and when I get to 70, I bet the still produce SW games. Something about Luke Skywalker Grandchildren in some strange world.
Cmon guys!I like SW, but enough is enough! I know that SW is their golden egg chicken but have you people manage to get the trouble of counting the amount of SW games that Lucas produced?
    Jesus! Enough said! PEACE!!

I think the idea of Star Wars games are good, but LucasArts has made too many of them (too close together) and are not coming up with original ideas like they used to. X-Wing and Rebel Assault were great. Super Bombad Racing/Demolition/Obi-wan were not. I would still like to see Star Wars games, but in smaller quantities with higher quality. Hopefully, The Force Unleashed is one of them.

Super Bombad Racing was... Super Bombad!
