EMI, best of 2000! 27 Dec, 2000 / Comments: 7

Gamespot UK has awarded EMI "Adventure game of the year 2000" beating out Devil Inside, Blair Witch Vol. 1, and In Cold Blood.
As polished, accomplished and gorgeous to look at as a golden pile of pieces of eight, Escape hoisted the Jolly Roger and confirmed that predictions of the adventure genre's death were entirely premature.

Hooray for Adventures!

Gamespot, not the UK version, indeed nominated "The Longest Journey" over EMI as best adventure of 2000.

Of course it's dying. The fact that something as terrible as Escape from Monkey Island could be considered "Adventure of the Year" should be proof of that.

The Longest Journey was released early this year in the UK. It was the last European country where it was released (some very clever strategy from Funcom). So, yeah, it should have won this! And I don't understand why it wasn't even nominated. BTW Why do the magazines have to mention EVERY time a good adventure game pops up that it took them totally by surprise? When are they going to realize the genre is NOT dying, I wonder.
