Double Fine's adventure receives $1 million in under 24 hours! 32 days left to go 10 Feb, 2012 / 14 comments

Not content in raising the budget for their new game in 8 hours and 11 minutes, and then breaking the Kickstarter records for most amount raised in a short timeframe, and then breaking the number of backers for one project, Double Fine have hit another milestone: Raising $1 million in less than 24 hours!

We can only speculate what this might mean for the finished game, but if money keeps pouring in, could we reach a budget large enough to create a game approaching the size and scope of one of LucasArts's classics? We can only hope.

Where will it end? With 32 days left to go, it's too early for anyone to tell!

Haven't pledged any money yet? Go take a look at the Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter page, and make sure you watch the video!

    Technical mumbo jumbo:
I removed the 2nd order polynomal trendline, as it didn't work well.
You now just have to predict the future yourself :)
I just think 2 million will be hard stretch.

Uhh, just what do you think the cost of the rights to a LucasArts IP would be?

Yeah, I know what you're saying... But a man can dream, right?

If the donations keep going at this rate, Double Fine would probably have enough money to buy the rights to Monkey Island from LucasArts! Bring on Ron's MI3 (I'm not anti Curse/Escape/Tales, it'd just be cool to know the secret :p )...

    Exactly!

I shouldn't think the amount of money they raise would impact the scope of the game. Even if it's subject to change, the fact that they're shooting for October would seem to imply that game has been mapped out and, to some degree, scheduled. The surfeit dough will go to exactly what the project page said it will: soundtrack budget, VO budget, and other peas and carrots.

(Also, holy smokes at the awesome adventure gamer solidarity on display here!)
