The International House of Mojo

The German version of the game must have the worst text translation in all of adventure gaming history. It's full of very obvious mistakes, there's no rhythm to any of the lines, and it just feels very weird. It's very obvious that the German publisher didn't put much effort into the localisation process, since the voice work is also all sorts of "not memorable". The game itself plays rather nicely, but you have to bear with it for a little while, since it starts off a bit weak. Also, a couple of changes from the Vampire Story game system feel rather strange - you can't skip the dialogue, which can get very annoying if you're having trouble solving a specific puzzle. I preferred the overall atmosphere of AVS, but this one definitely has its charms. The soundtrack, for one thing, is absolutely breathtaking, and the background graphics are beautiful as ever (though the stronger ones are definitely those that have a darker tone to them).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the game - impressions are really hard to find on it. It's interesting to hear that the localization was so problematic for the country of the game's original release, but it is still technically a translation I guess. I suspect Bay Area will comes through for the English voicework as they always do. (I assume they'll be doing it, anyway, since they handled AVS.)
