DREAMM we deem, reigns supreme with new release 28 Jul, 2024 / 2 comments

Our favourite Lucasarts game emulator DREAMM has reached another milestone. Earlier this week Aaron Giles released DREAMM 3 further cementing his place in the Mojo pantheon.

This version adds support for a bunch more games, supports add on packs and adds an excellent CRT filter that adapts and changes to suit the video mode of the game you're playing. There's much more of course and full details can be found in the readme.

Grab it here.

DREAMM moves in leaps and bounds. It took ScummVM two decades to reach this point.

And there's a natural reason for that :-) DREAMM emulates a central x86 architecture (and I shall say: very well and very efficiently, given Aaron's gigantic expertise on the topic), while we have to reverse engineer executable after executable of each game, for each engine. People and their motivation come and go, engines might not be touched for a few years. Some engines might take 10 years to get fully done (see Blade Runner). That's just how it is, two hard approaches but in a different way :-)

    Long live DREAMM!
