CMI Easter Eggs Revealed Part II 21 Apr, 2002 / Comments: 8

In addition to the one mentioned in the previous news post, another elusive easter egg has now been discovered in The Curse of Monkey Island. This easter egg provides an interesting look at a scene we last saw in another LucasArts graphic adventure, The Dig.

After Serge and I did some more searching through decompiled SCUMM scripts, Serge discovered that if you enter Stan's crypt around 35 to 36 times, a spider web will appear in the upper left hand corner of the screen with Maggie stuck in it. Then, the famous alien spider enters the screen and consumes Maggie. I guess she was out of life crystals.

    I know I found this other easter egg a while back but I dont know how it was done.

    Apparantley I went to the beach and tried picking up the ocean 25 times for the first time then after guybrush went out of the water I tried going in again. This time there was an arrow pointing to the sea so I clicked it and Guybrush went in again and this time I could walk about and look at stuff. Unfortunately I went out the water and I tried picking the sea up again and Guybrush just said "I'm not going down there ever again" so if anyone had this happen to you please let me know ok.

    Ah, so that's how you find that easter egg. And I was patching the scripts just to see it... :P
    Oh well, at least I was the first to see the thing. :)

    Damn, Mojo hasn't been the same without the comprehensive easter egg section. That's what got me hooked on this site in the first place all those years ago.
