Bone Trailer Posted 15 Jul, 2005, 14:32 / 12 comments

Wa-hey, it looks like Telltale Games has posted the long awaited (?) Bone trailer which seems to consist mostly of cut-scenes (?) from the game. More importantly, you get the chance to hear the voice actors, and see the animation in full swing. My first impression is that they've managed to capture the spirit of the comics just fine. Yours may vary.

Go look!

    Lots of new info here at 1up;

    Currently, Telltale has plans to release all four Bone episodes individually for $20 each, but the company is considering ways to combine all the games together, offer a discount for players who buy all four, and even possibly release the game on other platforms like the Mac (a favorite of Bone creator Jeff Smith). But as of right now, the only confirmed release plan is to have four, four-to-six hour chapters available for download starting with the first in September.

    4 episodes, rather than the 9 of the comic books - probably a good idea to more or less do 2 books per game episode.

    Don't trust that "4 episodes" number until Telltale confirms it...

    Anyway I can download it instead of watching Flash?

    There's now a quicktime you can download on the Bone page.

    Doesn't look too graphics-intensive, but the cartoony feel works out fine since it is based on a comic. Kinda worried about sales though, doesn't look nearly as marketable as Psychonauts.

    And therein lies the beauty of the distribution model. No money on packaging. No profit to be made by distributor and retailer...

    Roaylties to Jeff Smith and a few bits & pieces aside, pretty much all the money from sales of the game will go into Telltale's account.

    I'd say it's at least as marketable as the cancelled Sam & Max game, and that very angle (That the Telltale team is predominantly the laid off Sam & Max team) should guarantee column inches in many publications.

    Yeah, PC Zone ran a full preview a few issues back.

    Still, don't forget what Ron has to say about the value of marketing and shelf-presence.

    That I imagined that it will be worthwhile itself for both - Telltale and Jeff Smith. :)

    Yeah, that looks like it will be awsome. As someone who went out and bought the Bone Collection of all the comics and read em all in 1 day after hearing about the game, I can say, looks and sounds good to me.

    The trailer looks awesome. I'm really looking forward that title.

    Beside that, Telltale Games also announced a sweepstake... first prize is an Bone-a-Fied PC... Sweepstake starts end of july.
