LOL. That was great. I had no idea how scatter brained I sounded in real life. Do I really talk like that? God! I clearly need some sort of anti neurosis drug of some kind

Anyway, let me clear up a few quotes. The story about Tim that I cited was around 1993 when Jurassic Park came out and the whole company had just seen it at a screening. So later that week, when I was sitting next to Chris Hockeabout (who incidentally is th guy with the curly hair and nose ring in the next Sam and Max comic.) when Tim came up to his desk to return a music CD and borrow a new one. But Chris wasn?t there (out smoking a ciggy butt). So Tim innocently put it back and started to borrow another one when Chris came up from behind. Tim was caught, and looked guilty and nervous and said? Chris Hockebout?s vision is based on movement. If I hold still he won?t be able to see me.? Which craked up the whole room. It was just some brilliant improv. So yes, he?d make great comedic actor too. I just want main stream audience to get to see his stuff. Movies and TV would be a natural way, or radio. He would be great on radio.
So the second anecdote I thin it was back in 1995 at the Los Gamos building and Tim had just got all this INCREDIBLE pencil drawings from peter Chan. These were just amazing masterpieces. I was so excite by them I wanted to show Leonard, another artist, these illustrations because he hadn?t seen them yet. But Tim had them all in his office because they would have gotten stolen if he had posted them on the outside hallway. So Leonard and I went up and to his office door and knocked. Tin hailed us in and I opened the door and he was having private conversation with a , let?s say, lady friend. Well I didn?t care, I wanted to show Leonard the art on the wall be hind Tim any way. I get a little single minded that way, so I asked if we could come and see the art. Leonard being a bit more sensitive to the awkwardness of the situation, wanted to leave but Tim said ?Sure come on in.? So I dragged Leonard over to the pictures, almost tripping over Tim?s lady friend from accounting. So just as we started looking at the pictures, Tim makes fun of the whole thing by saying ?So the doctor says my colon cancer might be spreading to my kidneys, and I mat need colostomy bag, and it might affect my bladder control?? I got the hint and left. It was damn funny.

Anyway want to clear that up.

And oh! Tim is not like a dog. More like a cat, a funny cool cat you don?t want to mess with.

    -Bill Tiller

Great interview! Quite insightful and decidedly less awkward than the GDC/Telltale interview. Woot.

As a US adventure game fan, it was disheartening to hear that the bulk of the VO budget went into the German sku... 0_o

It's just sad (for us) to see that the market is such that it warrants those kinds of decisions, and it seems like such a reversal from just 10+ years ago where gaming, adventure and in general) seemed very US-centric.

...but maybe that's just prevailing pre-internet consciousness.

The German userbase has always been huge for adventure games, and has caused quite a few marketing decisions even over ten years ago (such as the cancellation of Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix).

Wow! That was funny AND interesting in one article! Thanks!

Great interview... you didn't even make anyone look like an as this time ? ? Also well done on documenting your journey to my home town just for Mojo.
  • CaptainDread on 23 Apr, 2007, 18:55…
Yeah, I hate it when articles make people look like prepositions. ;)
  • Jake on 24 Apr, 2007, 20:15…
    noooooo
  • The Tingler on 24 Apr, 2007, 09:56…
    Damn your as.
  • Erwin_Br on 24 Apr, 2007, 18:42…
    Oh my.
  • The Tingler on 23 Apr, 2007, 11:36…
Yep, very very cool indeed. Very friendly and obviously a fun chat - that's just what interviews should be like, in my opinion.
  • Haggis on 23 Apr, 2007, 11:10…
    Wow, that's great! :D

That was wonderful and quite a surprise interview. Well done.
  • MrSneeze on 23 Apr, 2007, 06:22…
Ok, just finished reading it. Very good, and quite clever delivery. :D Thanks for all the info!
  • jp-30 on 23 Apr, 2007, 03:52…
Well done. The only thing it missed was some amusing anecdotes about Wolfgang Kierdorf.

Wonder if Bill ever saw your David Brent based webcomics?

In fact, I'm going to re-read them now for a laugh.
  • MrSneeze on 23 Apr, 2007, 05:55…
What exactly did happen with badbrain/Wolfgang? I seem to read references about it but don't have a clue (although I do remember some *ahem* interesting posts on the badbrain website).
  • Gabez on 23 Apr, 2007, 03:53…
I heard that he did, but he was too embarassed to read them. I myself was too embarassed to ask him.
  • jp-30 on 23 Apr, 2007, 04:04…
So he didn't even show you any Vampyre Story - he couldn't do so even if you promised not to write anything about it?
  • Gabez on 23 Apr, 2007, 13:45…
Probably not... I might have been able to if I'd signed something, but it was really a lot of hastle, and I don't mind waiting a bit longer to see it. It would probably be like watching a play before the actors had learnt their lines.

On page two you have 'president' instead of 'precedent', nice interview!
  • Gabez on 23 Apr, 2007, 02:38…
I'm as bad as Bill when it comes to spelling. Thanks for pointing that out!
  • Udvarnoky on 23 Apr, 2007, 01:31…
    Excellent interview!
