Barwood, Falstein return with new Adventure 26 Apr, 2007 / Comments: 7

In non-Telltale games news, Adventure Gamers is reporting a new adventure based on the famous WW1 femme-fatale spy Mata Hari is in the works, being designed and written by a pair of well known ex-LucasArts employees

The story and game design for Mata Hari are provided by Hal Barwood and Noah Falstein, who are no strangers to the genre, having been involved in the Indiana Jones games The Fate of Atlantis and The Last Crusade with LucasArts many years ago. The actual development of the game is being done by the Hanover-based 4Head Studios.
The game is slated for a first quarter release in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, with the rest of the world to follow.

Yeah, I'm delighted at the news.

I do wonder the extent of Barwood & Falstein's involvement though. Just a design doc, concept art and a plot summary do you think? Or will they actually be involved in some capacity in the game's development from start to finish?

Not that it really matters either way, though I guess I would prefer it if they were on board in some capacity as consultants and/or script-doctors right until the end.

Yeah, I noticed that. It's in the same way that Broken Sword creator Charles Cecil 'helped out' with The Da Vinci Code game. It still sucked.

No, I've decided I'm not going to be pessimistic - I'll keep a close eye on this one.

Sounds like it could be a good serious adventure game, like The Last Express.

This is great. Noah and Hal are great designer on their own and even better working together.
I'm really looking forward to this project.
