Adventure Gamers gets cool Sam & Max art, Mojo steals it 20 Jul, 2006, 23:21 / 22 comments

Leech off of others! Adventure Gamers has got a cool image of Sam and Max's office (among other screens) from the upcoming games right here. Notice anything familiar about that date on the stacked box? Check out the rest of the great environment art, some of which is from the online and printed 1up previews, and most of which is brand new. Good thing we have no integrity.

For the sake of interest, here's the Freelance Police version so that you can see how the same thing was done twice, only different.

Doesn't it all look great and/or awesome?

You cant expect the game to be better than the cancelled lucasarts game.. lucasarts had a bigger budget..more people working on it..and more time.. Telltales sam and max game is obviously gonna be more streamlined.. the humour is clearly still there tho.. I think this game is gonna be hilarious

I dunno, those renders look a bit sterile to me. I guess they're ok, though.

Yeah, I'd like to see more details and random crap strewn across the office. But it'll be fine even if it isn't in a state of disarray.

Looks great... and I prefer the Telltale version. Less atmospheric but it looks more like a real office, and the detail is cool. I hope there's a lot of environment interaction though.

The detail is better on the new one, but I think the layout and most especially, the lighting, is better on the old LucasArts one :(

Yeah, I really don't like what they're doing. It looks like a cheap version of what LA could have done :(

    Agreed.

I like it. Excitement up a notch. And is that the LucasArts logo cracked into the wall (right in centre)?

They Look awesome, but I have to say the lighting and atmosphere in the freelance Police screens look a bit better. But that doesn't distract from how cool the telltale ones are though.

I take it the kiddies desk is Max's? Nice. :)

They must have used one of the Sam and Max posters for reference.

He's got that desk in all of the comics as well.

Loving reading the boxes, packets, signs etc...

Very nice. They've really hit the drabby atmosphere of the office a lot better this time around; the old version seems a bit too... clean.

    What about this?

Definitely better, but still not quite as polished as the LA version.

I agree to a degree. I like the lighting in the old version much better. It had a nice interplay of warm and cool colours that made it seem more interesting. Plus the style (in both modeling and texturing) is more... consistent.

Don't forget these aren't screenshots from the game engine, but are development renders. So effects like lighting will no doubt be tweaked in the actual game.

I wonder how many references to the previous Sam and Max game will there be...

That box full of a printout of some 40,000 signatures?

That is worthy of a zing!
