Adventure Gamers Gets Tough 10 Jul, 2002 / Comments: 8

Adventure Gamers has republished their preview from July 2000 of Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths. As you may remember, Tony Tough is an old fashion 2D point 'n click graphic adventure from publisher Got Game Entertainment and is being compared to the old LucasArts classics. Adventure Gamers discusses this as well, and here's a quote:
Had it not been for the Italian speech still in place in the demo and the occasional clumsy translation in the subtitles, I could've swore I was playing some unreleased LucasArts title from a couple of years back - Tony Tough is that much reminiscent of some of LucasArts' older adventures. The meter-long protagonist wears oversized glasses and looks a little like Wally from the Monkey Island series. The overall graphics style is pretty wacky and supports the game's cartoon atmosphere.
An English version of Tony Tough will be available in North America sometime soon.

Hi, I'm an Italian boy, webmaster of the site "LUCAS ARTS - AVVENTURE GRAFICHE" (translating: "LUCAS ARTS - GRAPHIC ADVENTURES") http://members.xoom.it/lucasadv/
I'm a fan of graphic adventures and I bought "Tony Tough" nearly two years ago.
It's a very funny graphic adventures (the main character is very stupid, it's humiliated from other characters), with many references with Lucas Art's games like Monkey Island (in the luna park there is a section with a pirate ship). I've liked this game, but I thinks there's nothing exciting and funny like Lucas Arts graphic adventures!

I was hoping for an item about some brawl that took place at a gaming convention over adventure games. What I get instead is this lousy no-fun update :)

I think you can find (false) rumors of such an event occuring in the JustAdventure+ news archives.

I dunno... the main character hardly looks likable. I think it could've used better character designs.

well thought ... i don't want to imply that the game is bad (i haven't played it yet so i can't say - it could be fun!) BUT why should anyone call a main character Tony Tough ... if that's a good idea then i have a lot of those :)

I think its some unspoken law that amateur adventures (or pseudo amateur/commercial adventures like Tony Tough or Gilbert Goodmate) must have main characters with horribly lame names.
