Emperor's Tomb Manual Insanity 18 Nov, 2002 / Comments: 11

According to LucasArts guy Sam Saliba (AKA Gladius Man), the instruction manual for Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb is going to seriously own, reminiscent of the extravagant pack-in goodies of yesteryear's games. Apparently the Emperor's Tomb team hunted down the biggest Indy fan they could find, who also happened to be an accomplished graphic designer, and set him loose on the manual.

Saliba says the full color book is covered head to toe in Indy, with numerous in-jokes and obscure references throughout for the bored (us) to dig around for. We're holding him to it. Sounds perfect for reading while waiting for it to install, or for your brother to stop hogging the game (the jerk).

Of course, there's no telling how cool the thing will be when it actually shows up along with Mr. Indy CD. At least it sounds cooler than the now-typical 2-page black and white Install Guides most games seem to come with.

I can't help but think that we europeans are going to get fobbed off by LEC (again) and miss out on all the cool stuff you seem to get over there...

oh oh btw i suddenly remembered my Charlemagne! i mean.. not that but if the manual is going to be so cool and 'big', it means it wont just be published in a dvd case, cause that wouldnt fit! now it will prolly fit in one of those jedi outcast sized boxes but lets just keep our fingers crossed for a classic lucasarts game box! YAY!

i wonder if you pre-order that you'll get a spanky whip again..

Never said the book was going to be "big." I personally like the small boxes that are standard now. The old ones were a waste of shelf space and paper. The Loom book of patterns (I think it's patterns, been a while) and the grail diary from Last Crusade weren't terribly large - certainly not much larger than DVD-case or mini-box sized manuals.

I do believe we have been getting some of these black and white small booklets from LucasArts. If you dont count the one that came as a file with Monkey Madness, it just had a small cd sized b&w install guide. Its not beneath them to do it again. Im very happy that they are caring to go back towards some of their stronger roots.

This game is sounding cooler all the time. I hate to say it, but... I might actually buy it.

And considering I haven't bought a game since EMI, that's saying something.
