The single Double Fine post that could have happened if we'd been paying attention 15 Oct, 2011 / 9 comments

So, apparently, sometime last week, Double Fine made it known that on October 14th (yesterday), they were going to host a press event to announce six new products - the PC version of Costume Quest being one.

It gets better. The press release, which is pretty funny, suggests that more PC ports aren't an impossibility. Interestingly, the funding for Double Fine's conversion of Costume Quest as well as the update of Psychonauts is due to funding from Dracogen, an investment company consisting of one dude that you would do well to keep your eye on.

And that's just one of the announcements Double Fine made at the event last night! We imagine any embargo on these new products - whether they be more PC ports, new DLC, or new games altogether (we've still a Ronzo game to become acquainted with) - will be lifted in a matter of days, so stay tuned, go buy all of Double Fine's new games, and sorry for not knowing any of this wonderful craziness was going on!

Thanks to Mojoer black_sheep for making us aware of this.

    TestType

Trenched is published by Microsoft, so I seriously doubt we will ever see it for the PC.

I'm sure there's an exclusivity period on the publishing agreement, but when it's over and assuming Double Fine owns the IP (as is true of their other games except of course Sesame Street), it ought to be a possibility.

If there's a PC version of Trenched I'll definitely buy it.

So happy about this. My Xbox died during the first 30 minutes of Costume Quest, and because that thing was way out of warranty I haven't been able to play any of the downloadable titles. Hopefully Stacking and Trenched are coming to Steam soon too. Hell, even though I finished Brütal Legend twice on the Xbox, it'd be nice to have a copy on Steam as well (although I think the legal wizardry needed for such an operation might be outside of Double Fine's reach).

There is indeed an embargo. You're alone in your solitude, 5 year old Melancholik.

Aww I feel bad about that last sentence.

Okay... does it seem a bit weird that this event apparently went down last night, and yet, there hasn't been a SINGLE indication of what the heck was announced?

I'd expect at least one loose-lipped sumgun to fill in the blanks through a message board post or blog entry, or something. Maybe DF put an embargo on such sharing until Monday.

Or... nobody showed up for their party. Just like my fifth birthday. Sigh. I feel your pain, Shaf.
