Oh boy oh boy! Double Fine's released six high-resolution screenshots from Day of the Tentacle: Remastered, which you may recall as the sole remaining justification for this web site. Just look at all this justification, fans!

Day of the Tentacle: Remastered (Screenshots)

The following features had been hinted at, but are now confirmed:

- Upgraded audio (details are faint)
- Commentary that includes Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.
- Toggle feature to switch back and forth between classic and remastered mode.
- The inclusion of Maniac Mansion as a game-within-a-game will be preserved.
- Maybe more!

The release platforms are PC, Mac, PS4 and Vita. The release window is early 2016. So we'll be around until then.

They've confirmed MM within DOTT? Where did they do that?

I hope it's the original original ECS version.

    Riiiiiiiiiight...HERE http://www.shacknews.com/article/91888/maniac-mansion-will-still-be-playable-in-day-of-the-tentacle-remastered

"Speaking to Shacknews at IndieCade, Double Fine VP of Development Matt Hansen made sure to point out that the full Maniac Mansion game is indeed fully intact within Day of the Tentacle Remastered. For those that played the original Day of the Tentacle, it's in the exact same spot as it was before. Is Maniac Mansion itself fully remastered? Unfortunately, no, it's just as it was, but fans of the original game aren't about to quibble with that minor detail, given that it's widely regarded as one of the greatest adventure games of its era."

Also I'm super excited for this. The HD is like a subtle HD. In the thumbnails, you cant even hardly tell its an HD remake. I like that more.

Actually the details regarding "upgraded audio" aren't all faint... they've confirmed on the DF-forums that they were able to dig up the original voice recordings, so those are going to be included at higher quality.

Right. We've reported that before, although I should have mentioned it here. I'm thinking more the soundtrack.

"The release window is early 2016. So we'll be around until then." -- That sounds more like a dare than a promise.

Oh wow, they managed to create new graphics which really look like the original game, just in high quality (unlike e.g. MI 1&2 SE, but this is probably because DOTT is more of a comic-style adventure game).

Also I'm glad the original Maniac Mansion game can (most likely) still be played. It would be awesome if you could choose between MM v1 and MM v2 (I prefer v2 but you just have to include the original v1 too).
