Bring Back LucasArts' Mini-Sites 11 Apr, 2007, 07:24 / 11 comments

As pointed out by clone2727 in the Mojo forum, LucasArts trashed all the old game minisites during the recent site redevelopment. The web designers appear to be listening to the fans' requests to restore (some of) them, and have asked for feedback in this LucasArts forum thread.

You can see some of the older minisites linked here on archive.org and some of the newer ones by clicking through to the 'official site' from these links. The ones with lots of flash don't appear to have been saved fully, rendering many of the archived ones useless.

Hah someone requested they go so far as make retro mini-sites as well. I think at one point, during the "FT2 and Freelance Police are actually in production" days, that was actually considered - doing a MI hub mini-site, a FT hub site, Sam & Max hub site, etc. They also apparently talked very briefly about brining back The Adventurer, even going so far as talking about getting a couple Mojo people to write for it. Hah! Anyway. I miss the Grim and CMI pages, they were classic.

hehe, mojo timely as usual ;) :D

But seriosly, i really do think that they should make sites for each of the old games, if for no other reason than to keep up promotion and not let them fade away (like we would ever let that happen :P). The hubs sound like a better idea though, such a site for monkey island would be a blast (not to mention the others).

Sure, we are aware of the games and the impact they have had on gaming as a whole, but not many of the new generation of gamers are so blessed :) It would seem Lucasarts would rather leave it to us to promote and maintain the titles.

Hey, maybe thay sould start paying us ;)

Hopefully the responses to this thread at their forums will bring the games back onto the lucas-corperate radar. The posts are a bit limited though as the thread is usually out of the way and the forum announcments are poorly placed and easily overlooked. Hopefully the fact that is a mojo item now will flood the thread with needy responses
    :wink:wink:nudge:nudge:

If they brought back the mini-sites that would be a cool and unexpected gesture, but really, the only step that matters in preventing the old license from "fading away" would be to make the damn games available for purchase.

You need to move to England / Australia or New Zealand. We feel the love...

Oh, I own the games, and I can easily import the international releases. But I want to see LucasArts, with their own money and confidence, actively supporting the titles again.

Did you have to show us that? ;)

I've always been greatful for these public apperances of Ward.

Now I know who not to brake for if I see them crossing the street :evil grin:

    Here Here! :D *raises mug'o'grog*
I completely agree with that, and not just in the UK :P
Although it does make you wonder...Activision must have gotten the re-distrubution rights somehow... Perhaps a motivated person with some sort of producton/distribution experience could approach lucasliscencing about the possibility of north-american (preferably worldwide :P) re-distribution.

I guess the next logical question is "which mojo'er also happens to be either a closet millionaire, or the respected head of a largish distribution firm?" ;)

And now that hidden link at the bottom of the behind page doesn't work anymore (to the animated Murray picture)
